Layering fragrances is Kayali's founding philosophy — the idea that wearing multiple scents simultaneously creates something more personal and more beautiful than any single fragrance alone. Nowhere is this truer than with Kayali's vanilla collection.
Start with Vanilla 28
Vanilla 28 is the anchor of any layering combination. Its warm, caramelised vanilla base plays beautifully with almost any other Kayali scent. Apply it to the wrists and neck first, allowing it to settle for five minutes before adding the next layer.
Add a Musk Layer
Musk 12 on top of Vanilla 28 is perhaps the most popular Kayali combination in the world — and for good reason. The clean, powdery musk amplifies the vanilla's sweetness while adding a gauzy, romantic quality that makes the combination smell distinctly expensive.
Try a Floral Third Layer
For maximum complexity, add a floral element to the Vanilla + Musk base. Déjà Vu White Flowers 57 is the obvious choice — its white floral heart bridges the sweetness of the vanilla with a luminous freshness.
Seasonal Adjustments
In summer, reduce the vanilla load and increase the musk and floral. In winter, increase the vanilla — you can even add Kayali's incense or oud elements for a more enveloping, cocooning effect.
The Golden Rule
Less is more. When layering, apply each fragrance sparingly — you want to build a complex tapestry, not overwhelm. Start with one spray of each and adjust from there.
